MEL COLTON / DEVELOPMENT

My development journey started with Java for pure play Android Apps. After two years I migrated to Dart and Flutter, to explore hybrid development across Android and IOS. My database knowledge is mostly Json based via Firebase and I am currently exploring mongoDB to allow for database alternatives and Swift + Kotlin for native code integration into projects. Web development is handled with html and CSS3 with a working knowledge of both the W3CSS and bootstrap frameworks.

With the exception of this site (Which still leans on some w3-css) any website I create is handcrafted. No Bootstrap or Tailwind, or my other library. That’s not because I don’t rate those solutions, on the contrary. Exploring some of the major libraries has taught me a huge amount about how to develop personalised CSS. It’s just that because I'm responsible for every aspect of the sites and apps I currently create, from the design, UX, and UI, as well as every line of code needed to bring them to life, I want my solutions to be personal to the brands and products for which they’re developed.

So if you come across something that feels just… wrong, drop me a line. Because if there’s one thing I know to be true, it’s that any work is better when we work together.

Below is a selection of projects that will give you an insight into my current development knowledge base.
